Causes Of Urinary Tract Infections

Knowing the causes of urinary tract infections is something that is going to help you prevent them in future. Many women suffer from more UTI's than they should because they are doing things that are triggering an infection.

If you use a home remedy for your UTI then this isn't a problem, it's just an inconvenience to spend 12 hours every now and then curing your infection. If you are using antibiotics for a week at a time every time you're suffering from a UTI then your health is going to suffer in the long term, and the antibiotics are eventually going to become part of the problem.

UTI causes

The most common cause of a urinary tract infection is the E coli that lives in and around your rectum spreading to your urethra. The two areas of your body are so close that it doesn't take much for the bacteria to cause an infection. The main reason for the E coli to get in that area is wiping from back to front after you have ben to the bathroom. If you do this, and you suffer from frequent UTI's then a simple change in your bathroom habits of wiping from front to back could prevent any future infections.

Sexual intercourse

In some women sexual intercourse can be one if the causes of urinary tract infections. Bacteria can enter the urethra because of all the movement and rubbing. Women that change their sexual partners more often are more likely to get UTI's this way than women who stay with the same partner.

Not urinating when you need to

Women who hold on to their urine when they need to go can cause themselves bladder infections. If this is done too often then the muscles in the bladder can weaken, and then the bladder can stop fully emptying so the urine that is left will cause an infection.

Pregnancy

Pregnant women are more prone to urinary tract infections for two reasons: The hormones in the urinary tract change and that seems to make pregnant women more susceptible to UTI's; As the uterus grows it presses on the bladder, and this can prevent the bladder from being completely emptied which then can cause a UTI.

Kidney stones

Other causes of urinary tract infections are kidney stones. Kidney stones can block or obstruct the passing of urine and this causes infections.
